Evergreen Park High School Turns Out Teen Mediators

Ten EPCHS students graduate from Mustang Mediators Peer Mediation Program.

Evergreen Park Community High School is pleased to announce the new graduates of the Mustang Mediators Peer Mediation Program.

Ten teacher-nominated students applied and successfully completed two three-hour training sessions over winter break - Monica Yapan, Jasmine Ivy, Megan Garcia, Brittney DeMik, Lauren Bourke, Miranda Law, Tyra Smith, Lily Lopez, Chris O'Grady, and Leeza Campbell.

Counseling interns Samantha Antos and Lauren Dentzman led the training sessions defining the terms of peer mediation, origins of conflict, five basic conflict management styles, active listening skills, and breakdown of the process of mediation.

The facilitators also led the students in role-play examples and brainstorming activities to drive the topics home and look forward to continuing to work with these dedicated individuals throughout the term to provide the school-wide intervention.
