D124 Calls Bagaining Session With Teachers Union for Wednesday

The school board will meet with the striking Evergreen Park teachers union at Village Hall beginning around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Dist. 124 school board has called a bargaining session with the striking Evergreen Park teachers union at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. The session will be held at Evergreen Park Village Hall at 9418 S. Kedzie Ave.

The Evergreen Park Federation of Teachers have been on strike since Tuesday, camped out on 95th Street and Sawyer Avenue by Central Junior High School and in front of Southwest Elementary School at 99th Street and Central Park Avenue.

Because the strikers won't cross their own picket line, future negotiation sessions will be held off campus.

Also,  community forum rumored to take place at Central Junior High on Wednesday evening is inaccurate. A D124 official said that no such forum has been scheduled.

Dist. 124 will NOT be holding a community forum for parents and residents on WEDNESDAY. The school board is, however, meeting at EP Village Hall with the teachers union for another bargaining session for a new teachers contract beginning at 5 p.m. Wed. Patch is in constant touch with both sides and until we confirm. We thank Dr. Machak and the IFT for the smooth flow of information. Unless we confirm it, we WON'T post it.
